Key Fights to make after UFC Adelaide

UFC Adelaide was a great event that showcased great Australian talent right in their back yard. Although all three 4 of the home town boys lost that night, the Australian crowd never disappoints.

Junior Dos Santos: The biggest winner of the night without a doubt has to be Dos Santos. Being on the later part of his career, Junior was expected to pass the torch to young and coming Tai Tuivasa. Getting a knock out win Dos Santos proved that he is a true Legend of the UFC, and will continue to write his record book. Alistair Overeem just won his co main event fight at UFC Beijing a couple of weeks ago. Overeem is ranked one position in front of Dos Santos in the UFC’s light heavyweight division. Dos Santos lost his first bout with Overeem back in 2015 via TKO.

Next fight: Junior Dos Santos – Alistair Overeem

Tai Tuivasa: Tai was 8-o in his pro career leading into this main event fight at UFC Adelaide. Unfortunately Saturday was not his night and he will have to continue to climb the ranks in the heavyweight division. Luckily for him, before  his fight he got into a slight altercation with Justin Willis who fought Mark Hunt on the Adelaide card just two fights before Tai fought. Although Willis won and Tuivasa lost, the story line is there and Tuivasa is still ranked higher up then Willis by the UFC’s standards. The Story line alone should get the fight booked possibly for the near future if both fighters are healthy.

Next fight: Tai Tuivasa – Justin Willis

Shogun Rua: Defeating rising star Tyson Pedro this past Saturday, Shogun is currently ranked 12th in the UFC’s light heavyweight division. Although Tyson Pedro suffered a knee injury witch ultimately lead to his TKO loss, Shogun looked impressive threw out the fight and could have been on his way to a decision win. OSP originally defeated Shogun by TKO in 2014. The thing that both fighters have in common in that both of their last fights were against Tyson Pedro. Rematches are notoriously more popular then the original fights. On top of that stylistically Shogun and OSP match up great against each other and it will be very interesting to see where the fight will go being how the first fight went.

Next fight: Shogun – OSP

This upcoming Saturday December 8th the UFC will visit Toronto Canada for UFC 231. The Main event will be Featherweight champion Max Holloway against challenger Brian Ortega. While the Co main will be Valentina Shevchenko and Joanna Jedrzejczyk fighting for the vacant UFC women’s flyweight belt.
